Flurries joined me as I ambled through Fort Greene Park with my pup a few days ago, bundled in a puffy jacket and scruffy brown scarf. So many things are changing around me. Nearly a year ago, I wrote of a palpable transitional energy in the air and I find myself still sitting in it, eleven months later. Maybe it’s slow and steady forever, change as the only constant. Trusting in slow growth, because the best things take time and care to flourish.
Still I remain encouraged, boosted by opportunities and connections and the sunlight streaming onto the sliver of wood floor of my living room where my dog sleeps. I offer us all a pause for this new month, as we settle into a colder season. I’m choosing to arrive into presence wherever I am, even through the discomfort of change. I’m choosing to look for the little joys and the good enough. To let go of any ideas of perfection, the great illusion. To remember are perfect as we are, in our messy, slow growth. There is no room for judgement here.
I encourage you to consider an intention December. Take a moment to think of a quality you wish to embody - not what you’d like to do, but how you’d like to be.
My intention is embrace. Within all the shifting uncertainties in my orbit, I hope to enjoy the small, comforting moments, no matter how fleeting, and remember that uncomfortable feelings pass, as everything does. Sitting with discomfort isn’t easy, but it brings growth and wisdom. It’s worth it, it’s worth it, it’s worth it.
May we all make space for reflection as we shift into a colder season ahead.
I’m excited to share my new look and feel for this space! With fresh ideas and a new name, Grounding, I have big plans for the coming year. Expect more nourishing and creative letters with tools for personal growth and inspiration for living a mindful life with more calm and less chaos. I’d be so grateful if you forwarded along to someone you think may enjoy and benefit :)
MILWAUKEE! I’m excited to zen out with my hometown after a bustling holiday. You all get first dibs on an intimate mindful pottery workshop I’m hosting Thursday 12/28 in Bayview - there are limited seats, so reserve your spot here!
I love bringing meditation into my work with clients, yet my personal practice is always shifting. Sometimes (like this morning) I sit for ten minutes and sometimes (like most days) I don’t sit for more than one. I try my best to never judge, just notice and create a plan to do better. If you’re curious in meditation but can’t sit still, this article is filled to the brim with advice. And if you’re curious about meditation and mindfulness and it’s connection healing, reach out!
Felt so aligned with Leslie’s thoughts on gift guides (and gifting in general).
I have space for a couple of new clients in my psychotherapy practice, where I focus in anxiety and trauma. Reach out here with any questions or inquiries!
PS - If you enjoyed this week’s letter, please share with a friend! Word of mouth helps my space and offerings grow and flourish :)
