POTTERY IS FOR shifting with the seasons.
how i'm moving into summer with ease (and a studio sale!)
This afternoon, the sun will stretch in the sky for as long as a day can go. Summer solstice is here and it feels almost akin to new years eve for me - a moment in time to pause and reflect.
I'll spend most of the day in my studio, making objects with clay. But this morning I took some time to reflect on where I’m at, finding space for a few intentional shifts in my routine and rituals. Asking myself how I want to feel, what's standing in my way (myself, mostly), and how I can make gentle changes in my life to reach what feels good.
Of course incorporating pottery into my rituals as the seasons change has a way of grounding me. Here are a couple of the shifts I’m integrating in this new season:
Making more space for myself in the mornings. I hope to wake earlier to burn palo santo in a new dish before short meditations, drink warm lemon water in a functional piece of art, and journal before moving into each day.
Taking time to unwind outside of the bedroom before heading to bed. On a typical night, I’ll put my phone in its charging basket before going to read in the bedroom, but I am wanting to dedicate more time to the wind-down. I hope to begin putting my phone to sleep while I’m still milling about, giving my brain time to rest and be present in my space without distraction. Mindfully doing my evening tasks like cleaning the kitchen, brushing my teeth, and watering my plants makes chores feel almost meditative.
Wherever you are and however you’ve been feeling, I hope that the pottery in your home and life encourages you to shift with ease in this season of abundance. May it open space for you to ground yourself and embrace your own gentle rhythms as we make our way through summer.
My big news from the studio this week is that I’m welcoming warmer days with 15% off my whole shop no code needed!!! I hope you can find something special for yourself or a loved one <3
