The sun is growing hotter each day and a collective grief is settling on us yet again. How do we tend to our private worlds and community when the world at large feels so unsteady and heartbreaking? I wish I had more answers, but for now I cry while I drink the smoothie my partner made me this morning. I guard my heart more than I’d like while also opening it up to my growing caseload of clients. I walk my dog and attempt to drink enough water and work too many hours without rest. I am tentative to hope even when I know hope must live in order for humans to blossom.
I look to nature
I look to my dear friends, who are always there when I reach for them
I look to fellow artists and participate in their acts of organizing
I look within myself
I look up at the stars and remember I am made of their dust
May June bring peace.
May June bring relief.
May June bring beautiful beginnings.
